Portland Port will host the Olympic and Paralympic sailing races

As glorious as the UK can be, it’s easy to see why the British Isles are hardly a superyacht hotspot. However, with this summer’s London 2012 Olympics, venues in London and on the south coast are gearing up to welcome big yachts.

Portland Port in Dorset will host the Olympic sailing races and has deep water berths and anchorages available, so in a partnership venture between MGMT and the port, superyachts can base themselves in Portland and take helicopter transfers to London for stadium events.

Portland is a more convenient base for sailing yachts than the River Thames, whose height restrictions makes access difficult.
