The team behind Abell Point has been working with national legislators to increase superyacht access to the Great Barrier Reef, while the marina itself is undergoing a dredging programme under the direction of new owner Paul Darrouzet. “Abell Point is a great facility for yachts to prepare for trips out into the Whitsundays, or take a little down time for the crew,” he says. Berths stretch to 70 metres, with on-site concierge services, including a dedicated helicopter for transfers, provisioners and crew services.

“We have experienced a huge increase in Australian and international superyachts visiting the marina,” says Luke McCaul, Abell Point Marina marketing and business development manager.

The Whitsundays are home to Whitehaven Beach, Heart Reef, and the Hamilton and Hayman Islands resorts. There’s a private-jet terminal and local airports with connections to international flights via Brisbane to the south and Cairns to the north.
