A fire broke out on the 93-metre sailing superyacht Eos on Saturday in Oslo. The Lurssen-built 2006 yacht was at anchor in Oslo when local firefighters were called to its aid at about 3.15pm, according to the Maritime Bulletin.

All 18 people on board were evacuated and no one was injured, although the roof of the superyacht was damaged. The yacht is owned by Barry Diller, CEO of InterActive Corp (IAC), and former CEO of companies including Fox Broadcasting and Paramount Pictures, and his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. The yacht had only recently been refitted, at Royal Huisman Huisfit facility, as we reported in March.

“It took some hours to put out the fire,” said Trude Thingelstad, communications adviser at the Port of Oslo (Oslo Havn), speaking to SuperYacht World today (Tuesday). “The damage on the boat was mostly at the top, and the engines are running now. They have ordered pilot out of Oslo today.” Thingelstad confirmed that the owners were not on board when the fire started.
