Boasting naval architecture by German Frers, the Wally 145 is being developed for an experienced yachtsman. Built in advanced composite at the new shipyard set up by Persico Marine in Massa Carrara, the yacht is due to launch in May 2019. The interior has been developed by Wally with Droulers Architects and Studio Mario Sculli.

“The new Wally 145 has been created for a distinguished, knowledgeable person who really enjoys driving a sensitive, well-balanced, pleasant and fast sailing yacht, while cruising with his family but also, and most importantly, while racing around the cans,” says German Frers “The initial brief was for a larger yacht, and contrary to the norm the new design decreased in size and got simpler during the design process, in search of agility, speed and a closer connection between the sea and the elements. Extensive research was conducted in order to get the best performance while striving to produce the lightest weight within its specifications, a pleasant and ample interior, three different and separate deck areas, and a very sophisticated sail-handling system.”

With the main salon and the yacht’s two cockpits on the same level, the yacht has some flexible and sociable deck spaces. “An absolute world’s first of our 44-metre is the third cockpit incorporated aft in the lower deck at the master suite’s level,” says Luca Bassani. “This new cockpit is reserved for the owners, who can enjoy the outside in complete privacy.” Inside, there’s a large owner’s area with two queen-size beds, office, and double walk-in wardrobes. The guest accommodation is for up to six in two cabins with twin beds and one pullman. The salon is amidships over the engineroom, seating eight-to-ten guests.

Under full power she can reach 15 knots.

“Her sail area/displacement ratio is much higher than that of any other yacht of this category, resulting fast even in just six knots of wind,” says Luca Bassani “At the same time, in strong winds, she is very stable and powerful, thanks to the hull shape and to the lifting keel lowering the bulb down to over seven metres.”
